Recruiting Tips
Don't Waste Your Time on these Types of People:
- Know It Alls - these people will just try to make you feel bad about your decision to be involved with Oxygen4Energy and will be a total waste of your time.
- Unmotivated people - even if you can get them to join, people who are not self-motivated will never achieve success and will typically count on you to do everything for them (then blame you when it doesn't go well).
- People with no money - unfortunately, without the funds to start and maintain a business, success will be very difficult.
- People who want free product to try - if someone is not willing to buy product to try out for themselves, it just shows that they are not really that interested. Plus, when you give product to someone free, they never treat it with as much respect as when they pay for it. Serious prospects will have no problem buying samples to test out.
Ask the Right Questions
In order to effectively recruit people into this business you will need to understand why they are considering the business and what their goals are. Here are some questions we recommend asking:
- Why are you looking to start a home-based business?
- What attracted you to this opportunity?
- What kind of income would you be looking to generate?
- How much time would you be able to put into your business on a weekly basis?
Asking these questions will give you great insight on your prospects and will help you determine if they are the type of people you want to have on your team.
Don't be Afraid to Walk Away from a Prospect
You don't want to recruit just anyone that comes along. You are interviewing to find the best people to put on your team. If you want to build a championship team, you need to recruit championship-caliber people. Not everyone has to be a Michael Jordan, but each person must bring value to the team in some way or another and must be willing to help others. People who bring nothing to the table are typically not going to amount to much and may end up being more trouble than they are worth. Here are some good characteristics to look for in new recuits:
- They already see the potential in the product and don't have to be convinced of that
- They are passionate about the product
- They are coachable
- They have good social skills
- They have computer skills
- They are diligent workers
- They are good organizers
Don't Ever Act Desperate
One of the worst things you can do when recruiting is acting like you are desperate to recruit someone. It's kind of like dating... the more desperate you are, the more people tend to stay away.
When someone likes the product and expresses interest in the business, this is the type of statement you will want to make to them:
Just so you feel more comfortable, I want you to know that I'm not here to try and convince you to do something you don't want to do. I'm here to answer your questions and to help you determine if this opportunity is right for you. If you do decide to move forward, my job is to do everything I can to help you be successful. If you decide that this is not the right opportunity for you, that's ok too. The most important thing now is for you to get all your questions answered so that you can make the best decision for yourself.
Put Friendships Before Business
When dealing with friends, always be sure to stress that the friendship comes first, and that you never want them to feel pressured to do anything they don’t want to do. In fact, when dealing with any customers or distributors, make it clear from the beginning that maintaining a positive relationship with them is paramount to any profit. Mixing business with friends/family can work, as long as you conduct yourself professionally and never lose sight of the fact that keeping them as friends is more important than the business they give you.
Use the Tools to Your Advantage
We created all of our marketing tools so that you do not have to be a salesperson. The videos and marketing tools we have created are very effective at presenting the product. Use that to your advantage. Plus, by simply sending someone a video they can view at their leisure, it takes the sales and personal rejection aspect out of the business and your prospect doesn't feel any pressure. This is a win-win for both parties!
Stay Away from Technical Conversations
Too much technical information about a product often can bore the prospect during an initial conversation. If the prospect asks a specific technical question, answer them, but try not to get too bogged down in technical details early on.
Teach Your Recruits How to be Successful
Always be willing and available to teach new distributors how to grow their businesses and how to do their own recruiting effectively. Teach your recruits that they should first reach some level of success in selling the product themselves before they focus too heavily on recruiting efforts. A distributor with a history of retail sales success will likely be a more effective teacher.
